TLC beefs up Salima afforestration Programme

Total Landcare Malawi has committed itself to plant over 1.2 Million trees during this year’s tree planting season in Salima District.
TLC’s Managing Director, Zwide Jere, said the move is in line with government’s effort to achieve sustainable forest resource management and utilization.
Speaking during the tree planting ceremony on Friday in the district, Jere said TLC is only complementing government’s effort in fighting climate Change.

Salima District Council Chairperson Richard Chiunjiza hailed TLC for their passion and support it renders in the environment sector.
District forestry officer Adam Jason emphasized the need to consider putting aside excellent monitoring strategies in a bid to improve tree survival rate.
The 2016/2017 national tree planting season was officially launched by President Peter Munthalika on Wednesday January 25, 2017 at Kalambo Primary School in Lilongwe under the theme “Malawi forests: Rooted in the past and branching into the future”.
